Intensives
Focused time. Explore deeply. Lasting change.
Sometimes, healing needs more than an hour a week. Intensives offer a dedicated space—free from distractions—to slow down, go deeper, and create powerful emotional shifts. Whether you’re coming as a couple, a relationship, or an individual, intensives provide a concentrated therapeutic experience grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help you move through stuck patterns and reconnect with yourself and those who matter most.
Relationship Intensives
Rebuild trust. Repair the bond. Reclaim connection.
Relationship intensives are for romantic relationships seeking lasting change through deeper emotional engagement. Whether you're in crisis, recovering from betrayal, struggling to communicate, or simply feeling emotionally distant, this structured format allows us to go beneath the surface and work directly with the emotional patterns that keep you stuck.
What to expect:
A total of 12 hours over 2 or 3 days (usually 4- 6 hours per day)
A customized process based on Emotionally Focused Couple or Relationship Therapy (EFCT / EFFT)
Identification of negative interaction cycles and the emotions driving them
A safe space to share vulnerable emotions, repair disconnection, and build a more secure bond
A pre-intensive assessment and post-intensive follow-up plan
Ideal for:
Couples dealing with infidelity, disconnection, or recurring conflict
Families navigating adolescent or adult-child rupture, grief, or major life transitions
Parents struggling to connect with or support a child through identity or developmental challenges
Individual Therapy Intensives
Go deeper into your story. Find your way back to yourself.
Individual intensives offer focused, attachment-based therapy for those ready to do deep emotional work. Grounded in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), these intensives allow you to explore past experiences, relational wounds, and emotional strategies that were once protective—but may now keep you from living fully and freely.
What to expect:
A total of 12 hours over 3 days (usually 4 hours per day)
A structured yet flexible process guided by the EFIT Tango and C.A.R.E. model
Space to uncover core emotional injuries, survival strategies, and unmet longings
Gentle restructuring of your inner emotional world through engaged emotional encounters
Pre-intensive planning and a post-intensive roadmap for integration
Ideal for:
Individuals navigating grief, trauma, shame, anxiety, or self-criticism
Therapists and caregivers needing space for their own healing
Anyone ready to move toward greater emotional clarity, resilience, and self-compassion
Why Work With Me
I’m Robin Williams Blake, an internationally recognized EFT Trainer, Therapist, and Supervisor. I was personally chosen and mentored by the late Dr. Sue Johnson, the founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy. It has been my life’s work to help individuals, couples, and families find their way back to secure connection.
As a trainer, I’ve taught EFT across Canada and internationally—from the UK to the Caribbean, Iran to the U.S.—guiding thousands of clinicians in the art and science of EFT. As a therapist, I bring that same depth, clarity, and compassion to the clients I work with. I believe that healing begins in safe, emotionally engaged encounters, and that when we shift the view of self and other, change becomes not just possible—but transformative.

FAQ
-
Not necessarily. Intensives aren’t better—they’re different. For some couples, relationships, or individuals, intensives are simply a better fit for where they are in their journey or what life demands right now.
People often choose intensives because:
Scheduling weekly appointments is challenging due to work, travel, or family commitments. Intensives offer a way to do meaningful work without the weekly time strain.
They’re at a crossroads or in crisis and don’t want to wait weeks to begin healing. Intensives allow us to dig in right away and build momentum for change.
They’re looking to go deeper, faster. Some clients find that immersive work over 2–3 days helps them access and integrate emotional material more fully than in a traditional 50-minute session.
Many clients return to weekly or bi-weekly sessions after an intensive for ongoing support. It’s not an either-or—it’s about finding what works best for you.
-
Many partners in a relationship or individuals find that the intensive alone gives them the tools and clarity they need to move forward with a stronger relationship or sense of self. Others may benefit from additional counseling to continue building on the progress made during the retreat. While the intensive provides a strong foundation for healing and reconnection, follow-up sessions can help reinforce new patterns, address any lingering issues, and ensure lasting change.
-
Intensive marriage therapy is different from traditional retreats because it focuses on resolving deep-rooted issues through concentrated, personalized therapy.
Unlike HMT retreats that offer group sessions and broad exercises, which are seen as more educational and do not dive deep into difficulties and struggles, intensive therapy provides one-on-one expert guidance tailored to your specific relationship challenges. This immersive approach allows for deeper healing and lasting change in a shorter time frame. Group marriage retreats are not ideal for couples in serious distress.
Ultimately, the decision for further counseling depends on your specific needs and goals, and together, we will create a personalized plan for moving forward before you leave my office.

Presently, I am seeing clients through Telehealth for intensives. We will discuss the best way to set yourself up for a successful intensive experience. It’s important to have minimal distractions and to create a setting that allows you to be emotionally present and engaged. Plan ahead so you can nourish yourself—and your relationship—before, during, and after the intensive for the greatest benefit.
My practice welcomes all couples and individuals, including those in LGBTQ+ relationships and interracial partnerships. Your identity and experience are respected and affirmed here.

Of course. Your relationship—however it is structured—is welcome here. I work with people in monogamous, open, and polyamorous relationships, and I honour the diversity of ways people love and connect. In intensives, the focus is on creating emotional safety, repairing relational injuries, and strengthening secure bonds, regardless of the number of partners involved. We will work together to understand your unique dynamics and support each person’s experience, needs, and hopes for the relationship.
